Buck of MP

We are excited to introduce the Buck of the Marking Period Program, designed to celebrate students who consistently represent Chatsworth School in a positive manner through their character, effort, and actions. This program highlights students who model the values that create a strong, respectful, and supportive school community.

Program Overview -  Each marking period, three students will be recognized:

  • One from grades K–2

  • One from grades 3–5

  • One from grades 6–8

Students may be nominated by any teacher or staff member based on our school’s core values. Recognition focuses on behaviors appropriate for each grade span: younger students for kindness, effort, and following routines; upper elementary for responsibility, leadership, and perseverance; middle school for consistent responsibility, leadership, civic contributions, and resilience.

Nomination and Selection -  During the last two weeks of each marking period, staff submit nominations highlighting specific examples of positive behavior and growth. A rotating committee reviews submissions using a rubric, with additional consideration for students who overcome challenges or demonstrate exceptional character.

Student Recognition -  Winners will be celebrated in several ways:

  • Certificate and Buck pin

  • Photo with Bucky, our school mascot, shared with families and on social media

  • Choice of a school-appropriate song for arrival or Fun Friday

  • Recognition at a Board of Education meeting, with families invited

  • Breakfast with the Principal during the following marking period

We are proud to honor students who demonstrate kindness, responsibility, perseverance, and leadership. This program allows us to celebrate the positive behaviors that make our school community so special.  Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to recognizing our outstanding students throughout the year.
