Notice of Vacant Board of Education Seat
The Woodland Township Board of Education is seeking qualified and interested candidates to fill a vacancy on the Board of Education. The selected candidate will serve from the date of appointment through December 31, 2026.
To continue serving beyond this date, the individual would need to run for election in the November 3, 2026 annual school election. Ballot submissions are due by July 27, 2026 https://www.njsba.org/membership/membership-school-board-members/school-board-candidacy/
Qualifications for Membership
Pursuant to New Jersey law (N.J.S.A. 18A:12-1), a candidate must meet the following criteria:
Be a citizen of the United States of America.
Be at least 18 (eighteen) years of age.
Be able to read and write.
Be a resident of Woodland Township for at least one year preceding the date of appointment.
Be registered to vote in Woodland Township.
Not hold office as mayor or a member of the Woodland Township governing body.
Not have a direct or indirect interest in any contract with, or claim against, the Board of Education.
Successfully complete a criminal history background check.

Interested residents should submit a letter of interest and a resume outlining their qualifications and reasons for wanting to serve on the Board of Education.
